SENAD operation against illegal crops in the Mbaracayú Reserve

On the morning of Friday, January 26, at the headquarters of the Moisés Bertoni Foundation (FMB), a press conference was held in which the Executive Director of the FMB, Yan Speranza, and the Minister of the National Anti-Drug Secretariat ( SENAD), Jalil Rachid, provided details about Operation “Moisés Bertoni I”, carried out within the natural reserve in the Department of Canindeyú.  

Yan Speranza referred to the environmental importance of the reserve, which is recognized, delimited and protected by Law. He mentioned the danger represented by criminal structures that threaten the forests for the establishment of illicit crops, a fact that entails predation. hectares of protected areas. 

For his part, the Minister of SENAD assured that the Paraguayan State has the obligation to preserve the natural reserve, therefore, SENAD demonstrates with these concrete actions a firm commitment in that regard. He stated that the operations will be continuous and permanent to discourage the entry of criminal structures into these areas. 

Since January 22 to date, about 30 hectares of marijuana crops have been destroyed, representing about 90 tons of ready-made drugs. This implies an economic damage to drug trafficking of at least 2,7 Million Dollars, based on the cost of the drug in national territory.
